Fundamentals of Intuitive Defensive Shooting

This PRIVATE event is for Church Safety and Security Team Members who have a desire to hone their defensive skillset in order to be the best protector and initial responder they can be in a Dynamic Critical Incident.

The Fundamentals of IDS is a one day course that will expose the student to all the core principles and fundamentals of the Intuitive Defensive® Shooting Program. This course will cover the basics of Intuitive Defensive Shooting, Defensive Accuracy, The Balance of Speed & Precision, an introduction to the understanding the Body’s Natural Reactions during a Dynamic Critical Incident, understanding the integration of lateral motion and additional concepts as time allows.

This Course will provide the student with an understanding of true Counter Ambush training with a defensive firearm, base level defensive shooting skills and a training methodology for continuing to develop those skills.

If you are within the renewal period for your Arkansas Concealed Carry License, we will take care of that at no charge.

This course is one full day of intense training, teaching and practice. The course will cover the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of Defensive Shooting & Intuitive Skill Development
  • Defensive Accuracy
  • Lateral Motion
  • The Balance of Speed & Precision
  • The Critical Incident Reload
  • Volume of Fire
  • Realistic Training for Multiple Target Engagement
  • Understanding the Body’s Natural Reactions during a Dynamic Critical Incident.
  • The Skill Development Cycle
  • and other topics as time allows

What do I need to bring?

  • Lunch, snacks, and plenty of water
  • Defensive Pistol
  • Backup gun (optional)
  • 3 double stack or 5 single stack magazines - this is a requirement
  • Strong side hip or appendix holster (quality kydex, or a similar type where the top of the holster remains open)
  • ~400-500 rounds ammunition (we can have it provided day of class if you need it at market prices, but we need to know ahead of time)
  • Eye and ear protection - Electronic Ear Protection STRONGLY recommended
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Gear that can withstand rigorous use. We will be spending a lot of time coming out of, and going back to, the holster.
