Fundamentals of Intuitive Defensive Shooting
This event is for the General Public, Church Safety and Security Teams, School Resource Officers, Commissioned Security Officers and Commissioned School Security Officers, who have a desire to hone their defensive skillset in order to be the best protector and first responder they can be in a Dynamic Critical Incident. If you are within the renewal window for your Concealed Handgun License, this event qualifies you for renewal.
The Fundamentals of IDS is a one day course that will expose the student to all the core principles and fundamentals of the Intuitive Focus® Shooting Program. This course will cover the basics of Intuitive Defensive Shooting, Defensive Accuracy, The Balance of Speed & Precision, an introduction to the understanding the Body’s Natural Reactions during a Dynamic Critical Incident, understanding the integration of lateral motion and additional concepts as time allows.
This Course will provide the student with an understanding of true Counter Ambush training with a defensive firearm, base level defensive shooting skills and a training methodology for continuing to develop those skills.
This course is one full day of intense training, teaching and practice. The course will cover the following topics:
- Fundamentals of Defensive Shooting & Intuitive Skill Development
- Defensive Accuracy
- Lateral Motion
- The Balance of Speed & Precision
- The Critical Incident Reload
- Volume of Fire
- Realistic Training for Multiple Target Engagement
- Understanding the Body’s Natural Reactions during a Dynamic Critical Incident.
- The Skill Development Cycle
- and other topics as time allows
What do I need to bring?
- Lunch, snacks, and plenty of water
- Defensive Semi Automatic Pistol
- Backup gun (optional)
- 3 double stack or 5 single stack magazines - this is a requirement
- Strong side hip or appendix holster (quality kydex, or a similar type where the top of the holster remains open)
- ~400-500 rounds ammunition
- Eye and ear protection - Electronic Ear Protection STRONGLY recommended
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Gear that can withstand rigorous use. We will be spending a lot of time coming out of, and going back to, the holster.
Our Cancellation Policy at Get Trained Be Ready is as follows:
Our policy is that all payments are non-refundable, but if a student is unable to attend and advises us prior to the day of the class that he or she is unable to attend, we will retain the payment on their behalf for a period of one year from the date of the class as a credit towards any class that we teach in an amount equal to their payment.
However, we limit all class sizes. If you want to attend a later class and notify us after that class is already full, then you will have to wait for another class.
